School is closed. As parents, we are trying our best to keep up with school activities from home, but it can be hard! We may be worried about loved ones, about safety, or about having all the things we need. Keeping up with everything we are supposed to do may be difficult right now, but there is one thing we can do every day that will help us connect with our children and help our children stay on track with learning... READ! If you do not have many books in your home, see if you can borrow some from neighbors or check out online options. Public libraries and many other web-based services offer e-books, and many are free! Try to read to your child or alongside your child as often as you can. Make a snack, lay on a blanket under a tree outside or in a home-made fort, make it fun, and make it a special time to enjoy together! For very young children, or children who do not show much interest in reading, try some of these tips from SLP extraordinaire, Cari Ebert!
Are you and your children missing loved ones and family members during quarantine time? So are we! So we are going to try this fun activity - mailing a hug to someone you love. There are many ways to do it... you can trace your handprints, cut them out, and attach them to each other with string. You can lay down on a long piece of paper with your arms spread out wide, trace, and cut out. Or make your own way! Here is an awesome idea I found from theleangreenbean.com. Check it out, make it your own ,and give it a try! It might brighten someone else's day, and yours too :)
mail-a-hug We all need to be kind to one another! Check out this great kindness chart, made by one of our wonderful teachers Ms. Sydney. See how many squares you can complete with your family!
