Your children may be feeling a little more worry and stress than usual lately. They may pick up on the stress that we, as adults, are feeling, and they may hear scary things in adult conversations or in the news. Please, take the extra time to play with your children. This will help them feel connected and safe. And please, make sure they feel they can talk to you. Try to answer their questions honestly and with age-appropriate information. These tools may help! Follow the link for a social narrative explaining the school closures. It is available in English, Spanish, and several other languages. Thank you to Conscious Discipline for sharing these free materials on their website! Stay well and take care of one another!

Please see this message from our district:
Dear families, In an effort to provide continued learning during school closure, the Grandview C-4 school district is enacting a plan to utilize private Facebook groups as the primary method for delivering information and instruction to parents and students in grades PK-6. Although many platforms exist that could serve this purpose, Facebook was chosen because of its ease of use and the familiarity the majority of people have with it. We are asking that parents join our private Facebook groups
Please click on the link below to join the HGECC group for your student(s). Highgrove Please keep in mind that this form of teaching and learning is new to the majority of teachers, students, and parents. Teachers are working diligently to adjust very quickly to this form of instruction. As such, it may take a couple of days for things to begin running smoothly in these Facebook groups. If you have questions or need assistance please contact the building. For up to date information regarding COVID-19, distance education, meals, and more, please refer to the following webpage on a regular basis. I love this! It makes so much sense to me! Children can handle stress and strain and hardship IF they are also getting plenty of love, one-on-one time, and play. When things are out of balance, or when kids are experiencing too much of the things that empty their cup, we need to actively, consciously do the things that fill their cups! I found this on the Imagination Tree facebook page, and I find it to be so helpful. I hope that you do, too!
