I found this cool website from the Sprouts Child Development Center. It lists some of the problem-solving skills you can expect to see at different age levels, and activities to promote problem-solving skills for infants, toddlers, preschool, and early elementary years. Check it out at the link below!
For infants, try singing and playing music for your baby. For toddlers, try a game of hide-and-seek using simple objects. For 2-3 year olds, provide a dress-up box for your child to engage in imaginary role play. For 3-4 year olds, read daily with your child. And for 5-6 year olds, plant a simple garden or follow a simple recipe. Sound like fun? Yep, that's the idea! High quality play boosts problem-solving skills, naturally! https://sproutsdevelopment.com/resources/problem-solving/

I had the honor this week of attending a conference in which Dr. Barry Prizant, author of the ground-breaking book Uniquely Human, presented about the prevention of problem behaviors through emotional regulation and through relationships. It was awesome! He has such a progressive, non-judgmental, kind and caring approach toward working with children and their families, and he is an inspiration to me! Thank you to Dr. Prizant, to KC:DT for hosting another important conference, and to my principal and professional development team in supporting me so that I could attend. Here is a video from Dr. Prizant's website. He tells us that we can all work to "understand Autism as a shared human experience" and to understand the behavior of a person with Autism as human behavior. Please watch by clicking the link below, and read his book to learn more!
